I’m Joe Chi, a Bay Area–based wedding photographer originally from Chicago. What first drew me to photography was the beauty of the images, but what has kept me here is the people. I care deeply about the relationships I build with the couples I photograph and the trust they place in me to document such meaningful moments in their lives. My approach is relaxed, personal, and often filled with laughter—I never want our time together to feel like a typical vendor-client experience. Instead, my hope is that it feels like spending time with a friend who happens to have a camera. Whether I’m photographing digitally or on film, I’m always drawn to the quiet, honest moments that reveal the real connection between two people. Outside of photography, I’m married to my beautiful wife Ashley, whom I’ve known since our preschool days—a story that constantly reminds me how meaningful it is to witness and celebrate the journey of love.
My journey into photography began after moving to the Bay Area, where the landscapes and the community of artists around me sparked something I couldn’t ignore. What started as a growing passion eventually led me to leave my corporate career and pursue wedding photography full time—one of the most meaningful decisions I’ve ever made. Today, it’s a privilege to do work that allows me to celebrate love, create lasting images, and form genuine friendships along the way. I’m endlessly grateful to the couples who invite me into their story and trust me to capture it with care, intention, and a sense of timeless beauty.
